SHUTDOWN: IS OUR GOVERNMENT REALLY “BROKEN”?

SHUTDOWN:  IS OUR GOVERNMENT REALLY “BROKEN”?

by Michael Peroutka

With all the finger pointing between democrats and republicans over the "SHUTDOWN" of the national government, we have constantly heard that our government is "broken" and, of course, each party blames the other for causing the damage.

This got me to wondering:  "Is the system really "broken" as we are being told?  Or is our present Godless system of government simply working the way a Godless system works?

Put another way, if Senators and Representatives are simply supposed to represent the will of their constituents, and the wills of their constituents are divided, then shouldn't the government, by definition, be divided?  Shouldn't there always be "gridlock"?  Shouldn't there always be a "statemate"?

All of which leads us back to the question that will NOT go away:  What is the function of civil government?

The answer is more simple than you might think.

Since civil government is ordained by God in order to protect God-given rights, then the function of civil government is to obey God and to enforce God's law.

Period.

It is not the role of civil government to house, feed, clothe, educate or give heath care to...ANYBODY!  (Or to operate a Panda-cam at the National Zoo.)

So aren't we just reaping the whirlwind we deserve when we ignore the limits that God has placed on civil government?

When God's law is ignored, chaos ensues.

And, if you understand The American View of law and government, doesn't this whole mess demonstrate with a vengeance the political and spiritual bankruptcy of the Republican Party?  During the entire debate over Obamacare, have you heard any Republican make the legal argument that to tax anyone for the healthcare of another exceeds not only the God-ordained jurisdiction of civil government, but the clear language of Article One and Section Eight of the Constitution?

I haven't.

This is MAP for IOTC bringing you TAV.
