June First Friday: Pastor David Whitney on “Why Every Christian Should Study the Constitution”
When Christians think about the commands of Christ, the one most often brought up, in regard to our civic duties, is “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” (from Mark 12:17) Does this command relate only to the paying of taxes? Is there anything else Jesus requires of Christians in America today by this command? How has this command been understood by Christians living under the thumb of dictators?
Pastor Whitney will answer these provocative questions and will explain the Christian’s civic responsibilities and opportunities.
David holds a B.A. from Rutgers University, as a Henry Rutgers Honors Scholar with Honors in History. He received his Masters of Divinity from Denver Seminary. He is currently the Pastor of Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church in Pasadena, Maryland. Pastor Whitney is Chaplain of the Southern National Congress and the Maryland League of the South.
Through Pastor Whitney’s instruction and testimony in the Legislature, he defends the family and the preborn, as well as the principles and requirements upon government. He calls upon those in government to stay within the proper bounds for civil government, as established by God and defined in the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Maryland Constitution.
In 2006 David ran for State Delegate to the Maryland legislature, calling for a return to Constitutional government in the State of Maryland. Thirty years a pastor, David is Senior Instructor at Institute on the Constitution. He and his lovely, talented wife and daughters reside in Annapolis, Maryland.

Informing a large and very interested audience, our February First Friday presenter, Rita Marker, spoke on the current practice, by some in the medical community, of recommending death as a “medical treatment.” Rita, a practicing attorney and the executive director of the Patients Rights Council, gave example after example of dangerous practices, which are being mainstreamed into medical care.
