IOTC Course Fuels Aspiring State Representative’s Run for Office

Institute on the Constitution has a mission to fuel a passion for America’s laws in the hearts of Americans. This passion drives many to teach our courses, others promote our courses, and some to run for office.  J.D. Winteregg is an example of one aspiring Ohio State Representative who’s heart was sparked by our U.S. Constitution Course.

Here is what he has to say:

When I made the decision to run for the State Representative seat, I was encouraged to enroll in the American View’s Institute on the Constitution course to gain a better understanding of the Constitution and what our Founders intended when they wrote the Founding documents. Even though I believed I had a pretty sound understanding of our country’s beginnings, I decided to take the course last spring and summer. I’m grateful that I did.

I was impressed with the focus on primary sources within the course, and I appreciated the Godly worldview applied to this material. God was present in our country’s founding, so why wouldn’t we learn about this through that lens? It made sense, and the presentation through this worldview did more than help me understand our Constitution; it helped me realize how I needed to center my campaign on similar, Godly principles.

Through this class, I developed relationships with people, two of whom were my classmates who are now helping me with my campaign. One has helped financially and has hosted a meet and greet, while the other is an active member on my team. Many other volunteers who have taken the IOTC course have helped me with other aspects of the campaign. Most importantly, they’ve served as constant accountability in a Godly, Constitutional way.

I wouldn’t be where I am as a candidate without the support of those who believe in the American View. I believe in its mission, and I hope to spread its message as much as I can with the platform God has given me.

Finally, I spent many years in academia, and I’ve got multiple diplomas that I display at my work. The one I’m most proud of is the one that’s front and center.
