Terri Schiavo died, you said she should be kept alive, and I agree with you.
Many would die without some form of medicare*, you have said that it's unconstitutional, and I disagree with you.
The Commerce Clause is clear about military spending and also clear about the general welfare; no spending on things like limiting the free press and no wasteful spending. That's how Federalist Papers 41 explains it; the list gives the scope of what's allowable.
Now I know in the early days some Presidents like Madison and Jefferson very conservatively interpreted the Commerce Clause, but that had nothing to do with the Constitution. That was an interpretation for the time they lived in. People want more government within the Constitutional framework as populations become more dense; that's why no big city voted for Bush.
A guy at my seminary wrote a speech about people getting Medicare who were willing to work for it, and I'd like you to consider whether you would let many people die. I will see if I can get you the speech. I feel I cannot be at peace with you or vote for you until you do so.
*Hank McKinnel, CEO of Pfizer, has admitted people die because they can't afford his medication.
