On my New Jersey General Assembly campaign website, I have just posted a video clip of a 5 minute interview I did with Comcast Newsmakers. This interview will air on CNN Headline News at 55 minutes after the hour in the regions of N.J. that I am running in during election season. You can view the clip at www.leoneforassembly.com (http://www.leoneforassembly.com )
The following is from my website and contains the major issues I wish to address if elected:
...my first priority will be to attend whole-heartedly to the first duty of civil government, which is the protection of innocent life. I am 100% pro-life and would immediately introduce legislation that would outlaw abortion in New Jersey. The Declaration of Independence plainly states that the right to life is God-given and unalienable. The 5th Amendment of the Constitution of the United States makes it clear that "no person shall...be deprived of life...without due process of law."
...my second priority will be to effectively address the illegal immigration problem that New Jersey is plagued with (over 221,000 illegal aliens reside in NJ, according to the Census Bureau). I would propose legislation that would make it a crime for an illegal alien to reside in or pass through our state. This law would define an illegal alien as a defiant trespasser in our state. If the spineless politicians in Washington D.C. will do nothing to address this critical issue, then our state politicians must take the lead.
...my third priority will be to reduce the massive tax burden that New Jersey citizens face. Our people have the third-highest tax burden among all of the 50 states in America. I will introduce legislation that would reduce the state sales tax on all purchases by 3% over four years. I will also introduce legislation that will immediately reduce the New Jersey income tax by 25%, while working toward a total repeal of this immoral form of taxation/theft. Integral in my plan of reducing taxes is drastically reducing the size of our massive state government. I firmly believe what Ronald Reagan once said, "Government is not the solution to the problem; government is the problem."
...I will also introduce resolutions that would attempt to check the intrusive involvement and burdensome influence of the federal government in the lives and affairs of the people of the sovereign state of New Jersey. The people of New Jersey must reclaim their God-given rights by working through their state legislature to resist unconstitutional involvement in their lives by a lawless federal government concerned only with its own size and power.
