An Invitation to Maryland’s Governor and Legislators

Posted on February 23, 2012 by Michael Anthony Peroutka

Maryland Governor, Martin O'Malley

Governments, like men, have a fallen nature. And it is the nature of government, over time, to overrun its authority and to abuse the very people it is designed to protect.

Mindful of this propensity, the Framers of our American Constitution not only crafted the document to limit the power of the Federal government, but they also included a specific provision that reserved to the States and the people the right to nullify Federal actions when they exceed lawful authority. This anti-tyranny tool is known as the Tenth Amendment.

On March 2nd, 2012 Michael Boldin, Executive Director of the Tenth Amendment Center, was Institute on the Constitution’s First Friday speaker. His discussion was about the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and its application as the states’ tool to keep the federal government within its jurisdiction.

What Is the Purpose of Government?

Posted on February 21, 2012 by Michael Anthony Peroutka

I think it is fair to say that we are reeling from the effects of out-of-control, bloated government. But, what would a government that is “under control” look like? Asked another way, “What is the proper, legal purpose of government?”

As I listen to most of the Republican candidates promote what they call “limited, conservative” government, their view continues to include welfare and warfare and phony, fiat money. To be sure, they say we need less of it than we are fed by Obama, but they still plan to feed it to us, just in an amount that is smaller but, as yet, unspecified.

Government-Authorized Child Abuse

For almost ten years now, Delegate Don Dwyer has been valiantly fighting the desperate efforts of the sodomite lobby in Annapolis to redefine the God-given and God-ordained institution of marriage.

Since the mission of the Institute on the Constitution is to restore an American Constitutional Republic, we are grateful for the efforts of Delegate Don Dwyer and others as they stand against the anti-American sodomite agenda.

But just today, in reading Dwyer’s recent testimony before the House of Delegates, I suddenly realized something that had eluded me, but thankfully, it has not eluded Delegate Dwyer.

Here it is in a nutshell:

TESTIMONY OPPOSING SB241 AND HB438 TO LEGALIZE SAME SEX MARRIAGE IN MARYLAND

Friday, February 10, 2012

Dear Mr. Chairman and committee members,

I have been fighting since 2005 to keep marriage between a man and a woman in Maryland. In the early days the argument was all about rights, benefits, hospital access and other related topics. Today the battle is to redefine the word marriage to include same sex relationships.

  • What is this American View?

Briefly stated, "The American View" of government is that there is a God, the God of the Bible, our rights come from Him, and the purpose of civil government is to secure our rights.

There are many views of government, from equally numerous world views. Americans are blessed that our Founders' Biblical Worldview informed their political philosophy and the framing of our founding documents.
