Roe v. Wade – Are We Marching In The Wrong Place?

Posted on January 17, 2012 by Michael Anthony Peroutka

Many thousands of very well-intended people will be marching in Washington this week to protest the 39th anniversary of the ruling of the Supreme Court known as Roe v. Wade. While I respect them immensely, I believe they may be marching in the wrong place.

It is generally taught and generally thought that this 1973 ruling made abortion “legal” in America. This is NOT TRUE. Let me repeat this. Abortion was not legalized by this or by any other decision of the Supreme Court or of any court. Abortion was murder prior to the case of Roe v. Wade and abortion is murder still.

Let me give you two simple reasons why this is so:

Reason #1: The Law of Nature and Nature’s God, which is operative in all the earth and during all times, specifically forbids the taking of innocent life. (Please see Exodus 20, verse 13.)

Reason #2: The Constitution doesn’t grant any court the authority to make law. So the Supreme Court has no authority to “legalize” anything. Judges can only render opinions that apply only to the parties before them. So, the ruling – the opinion – in Roe v. Wade applies only to Roe and Wade and to no one else.

It’s just that simple.

The confusion has come because the government and the media want you to believe that the courts have powers and authorities that they don’t have. And Roe v. Wade is a striking example of this deception. So, I am saying that the laws against abortion still exist and they still apply. They are just not being enforced by local prosecutors.

My suggestion, therefore, is to stop marching on the Supreme Court and start marching on prosecutors all over the country who can and should indict and prosecute those who commit murder in our communities.

And prosecutors… please… look at your own children, and do your duty to stop the murder of others!

Courts don’t make laws! States, and County Prosecutors should ignore unlawful court opinions and uphold the law, including stopping baby-murder.

You have the right question. I suggest the right place to march is at the home of Pastors/Priests/ Rabbis/etc who don’t preach like Samuel, Elijah, Jonah. Isaiah, Jehu, John, etc. They told the leaders exactly their sin de jour The followers of Jehovah must march in front of the religious Institutions and quote God’s exact words. As the only absolutely just Judge, I’m sure He will quote it at Judgment Day.

      Dear Carl:
I certainly agree that the problems we face can be largely traced to the failure of pastors to preach. While there are many theories as to why this has happened, one of the most compelling, in my view, is that put forward by David Whitney in his presentation “Should a Church Be Incorporated and a Nonprofit 501c3 Organization?” In short, Churches have gagged themselves and fear the consequences of losing a tax exemption more than they fear the Judgment of the Lord. This presentation DVD is available in our bookstore, and I think you will agree with David’s thesis. I am sending you a copy as our gift.

    Dear Mr. Peroutka,

I really benefit from your writings and share them with my family. I want to share ["Roe v. Wade - Are We Marching in the Wrong Place?"] with others as well. Clearly written and logical! I find the topics of your First Fridays talks very interesting. I have thought of traveling to your First Friday talks. However, as I live in Richmond, Virginia and have 4 boys at home it would be a concerted effort. So, I am writing to ask about this venue. Do people travel from far and wide to your First Friday talks? Do local people mainly attend? Do the far-away folks order CDs or download podcasts, etc? Also, do children ever attend? My youngest 2 are 8 and 9 years old. I know that you are very busy and in demand. I would be so grateful for a response, when you might have time. Thank you.

I pray for God’s protection and grace on you,

    The Commenter

      Dear Commenter:

Thank you so very much for your kind note. Your message is an encouragement to me and I am grateful. I will try to address your questions.

Yes, there are many local people who attend and yes, there are a number of folks who drive quite a distance to enjoy the presentations. We are very family-friendly and many children do attend. Some of those children are members of very faithful homeschool families who bring the whole clan.

We do produce DVD copies of the presentations every month, and many of those who attend also purchase them. I am sending you a couple of them as our gift to you. DVDs of most of our First Friday events may be ordered from our online Store or by calling 866-730-9796. The DVD of each month’s presentation is usually available within a few weeks after that month’s First Friday event.

We also livestream our First Friday events so that anyone anywhere may watch, and submit questions. You can access the live streaming from our website at TheAmericanView.com. Click on the “Events” tab, and then on the “Event Live Feed” button. (The direct link to that livestream page is: http://www.theamericanview.com/events/first-fridays/first-friday-live-feed/.) If you have any trouble finding how to get the webcast, please call us at 866-730-9796 any business day or before 3pm on First Friday afternoons.

We currently offer courses of study on the U.S. Constitution, the Maryland Constitution, and The Duty of the Jury. Descriptions of each of these can be viewed on our website by clicking on the “Courses” tab but, as you are not close enough to easily attend our Pasadena, MD classes, perhaps you might be interested in purchasing our Course Kit — Building on the Foundations: Restoring The American View of the U.S. Constitution. The Kit brings the course right into your home, which many families have found to be very useful as they learn and study together. I recommend your consideration of the Kit as a stimulating tool and safeguard for your family. You can read a description on our website at http://www.theamericanview.com/2012/01/building-on-the-foundations/.

I hope that you will continue to find our commentaries, products, and events helpful and encouraging. We are blessed to know that you pass our email commentaries on to others. Sharing our articles is one way to be involved in (as we say) the challenging but rewarding and Godly task of restoring our lost freedoms and passing on our Constitutional heritage of freedom to future generations of free Americans.

If I can ever be of help to you personally, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

      Blessings and thanks,
      Michael Anthony Peroutka

Well put, anymore, the “march” seems more out of habit, with no results and no plan for victory at all…….if things continue, that will continue with no results….at this point, it is rather meaningless and wastes time and moeny, efforts, spinning wheels when they could go elsewhere and do something more productive…

Briefly stated, "The American View" of government is that there is a God, the God of the Bible, our rights come from Him, and the purpose of civil government is to secure our rights.

There are many views of government, from equally numerous world views. Americans are blessed that our Founders' Biblical Worldview informed their political philosophy and the framing of our founding documents.
