Happy Birthday, Tim

Posted on January 24, 2012 by Michael Anthony Peroutka

This week my youngest child, my son Timothy Michael Peroutka, celebrates his 21st birthday. My mind and my heart flood with wonderful memories of his birth and his childhood. Tim was a great athlete and a bright, curious and engaging young child.

But with my youngest child now fully an adult, I can’t help but want to make some apology to Tim and to his generation of young Americans, for the disgraceful government, economy and culture we are turning over to them. It seems we’ve squandered our birthright, and theirs. We’ve been complacent and cowardly and we’ve been corrupted.

Today’s children are growing up in a tyrannical, socialist state that doesn’t resemble the country contemplated by the Declaration of Independence. Indeed, today we allow the president to wield more power than King George III ever was able to exercise over colonial America, and the courts no longer act as a check on the executive.

American citizens are now imprisoned and assassinated on the authority of the President without any accountability to facts or to law. Indeed, we have allowed ourselves to be corrupted by the belief that we – fallen mortal men – can substitute our own vain imaginings for the law of the Creator.

And since Tim was born, we have allowed the slaughter of more than 25 million babies in their mother’s wombs. Indeed, today the womb is the most unsafe place for a baby child to be.

We should have seen all this coming — some did see it — but we were too busy watching football and playing the market and listening to music to realize that both Republicans and Democrats, both liberals and conservatives were marching us into the same slaughter pen.

Now our children must recover the American view that we squandered.

So, Happy Birthday, Tim. I love you very much. I’m very sorry for the mess and I pray that you and your generation will return America to good, that is to say, Godly government.

  • What is this American View?

Briefly stated, "The American View" of government is that there is a God, the God of the Bible, our rights come from Him, and the purpose of civil government is to secure our rights.

There are many views of government, from equally numerous world views. Americans are blessed that our Founders' Biblical Worldview informed their political philosophy and the framing of our founding documents.
