Aug. 2011 Basic Symbols Essay Contest Ends; Multiple Winners

Posted on August 22, 2011 by The American View

The Basic Symbols of American Political Tradition essay contest has come to a close. Thank you to all those who submitted an essay. I am pleased that each entry noted, and several cited, the crux of Kendall & Carey’s argument:

[T]he symbols of a virtuous people, through deliberative processes, striving to achieve and advance their declared purposes which involve, inter alia, better ordering of justice (p 112-13).

Stated more succinctly: The basic symbols of American political tradition are local government, under God, by Christian magistrates.

It is my pleasure to announce the winners as follows:

The Public Character of our Public Characters

Posted on August 17, 2011 by Michael Anthony Peroutka

It has been recently reported that former President Bill Clinton publically recommended that, should the Congress not raise the debt ceiling, Barak Obama should just ignore the debt ceiling, citing the Fourteenth Amendment as his authority in doing so.

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, also recommended this course of conduct to Obama. Clinton, who as you may recall was impeached by the House for his moral and legal improprieties while in office, took the position that Obama should continue to recklessly and illegally print and spend money, expecting that by the time the Courts or the Congress could mount a challenge, the money would already be spent.

Secretary Geithner, who you may remember as an admitted tax cheat, presumably speaks for the Obama Administration.

Posted on August 15, 2011 by Michael Anthony Peroutka

Don’t believe what I am about to tell you. Please, don’t trust me to tell you the truth. Please, please, check this out for yourself.

You must not rely on me. You must examine the evidence for yourself.

Start by visiting the website ChildPredators.com. You will hear conversations between Planned Parenthood personnel and a caller who identified herself as a 13 year old child, pregnant by her 22 year old “boyfriend”. This is statutory rape in every state.

You will hear clinic workers acknowledge their own legal responsibility to report the evidence of this crime of abuse, but still coach the caller to help them cover it up.

September 2nd & the 14th Amendment

Posted on August 15, 2011 by Michael Anthony Peroutka

During the so-called “debt ceiling crisis”, Barak Obama, frustrated by Congressional debate over raising the debt ceiling, threatened to invoke the Fourteenth Amendment as cover for his plan to continue reckless government spending.

In fact, former President Bill Clinton publically urged him to do just this, commenting that any Court or Congressional challenge would take months or years and, by that time, the money would already be spent.

Let me ask you a question…

  • What is this American View?

Briefly stated, "The American View" of government is that there is a God, the God of the Bible, our rights come from Him, and the purpose of civil government is to secure our rights.

There are many views of government, from equally numerous world views. Americans are blessed that our Founders' Biblical Worldview informed their political philosophy and the framing of our founding documents.
